Gunther Werks is an automotive restoration company who currently remaster the Porsche 993 and turn it into a modern and respectful homage of the Porsche 993’s iconic heritage from a quarter century ago.

Gunther Werks is seeking a full-time Automotive CMF designer to join our team.

 

Essential Duties

  • Design and develop color and materials for both exterior and interior of upcoming vehicles.
  • Must be able to evaluate color, texture, gloss and finishes while collaborating directly with suppliers as necessary.
  • Must coordinate the release of all master samples.
  • Manage Client Relations and walk through build journey from beginning.
  • Create a Client Journey Manual. Interact with clients to ensure all client build specs are selected and delivered accurately.
  • Follow development of color and materials from concept through approval.
  • Ensure production updates and manage communication with GW Clients.
  • Build relationships and communications with clients to ensure that their satisfactory is met.
  • Address any concerns or issues a client may have and work with the team to resolve them.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams on any operations and client relations matters.
  • Ensure that all new and existing customers are kept up to date on new products or services that may be of interest to them.
  • Must maintain an awareness of developments in related fields.
  • Research design and styling trends and comply with regulatory and feasibility requirements.
  • Must coordinate the release of all master samples.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must submit portfolio or will not be considered
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in color and material development in automotive, product, and/or textile design.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in customer service support, sales, or other related fields, as well as a degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Communications).
  • Experience in developing production color and material proposals for Exterior and Interior.
  • Degrees in Industrial Design or related field preferred but not required. (equivalent in extensive experience considered)
  • The candidate must possess excellent phone etiquette; excellent communication skills; excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work under pressure; and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail and strong focus on meeting customer needs at all times.

Gunther Werks is an automotive restoration company who currently remaster the Porsche 993 and turn it into a modern and respectful homage of the Porsche 993’s iconic heritage from a quarter century ago.

You will need to perform the duties listed below:

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following duties successfully:

  • Lead or support design of mechanical systems for upcoming and existing vehicle projects.
  • Utilize 3D scanning for reverse engineering and to aid packaging in design projects.
  • Manage full lifecycle of design projects from ideation into production
  • Hands on installations and builds onto vehicles for part testing and validation
  • Use first principle requirements to define project specifications
  • Use FEA and computational simulations to guide designs where applicable
  • Manage outside vendors for development projects
  • Perform subjective and objective vehicle evaluations, identify potential customer complaint issues, investigate problem root causes, and propose countermeasures.
  • Create and present clear and concise technical reports
  • Finish projects on time and within budget
  • Communicate and collaborate with teams across organization to develop unique solutions
  • Work in a team environment as well as independently

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 3 Year Experience working in the engineering field
  • Advanced skills using CAD (Solidworks preferred)
  • FEA and CFD Experience is preferred
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, composites manufacturing, cnc machining and sheet metal
  • Practical experience in modifying cars and motorsports preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate well in written and verbal communications
  • Motivation and commitment to providing interpersonal customer service
  • Knowing and applying current industry standards and information
  • Soft skills including a positive attitude, flexibility, and conflict resolution
  • The ability to solve problems creatively on time
  • Having up-to-date knowledge and technical skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sub-Assembly
  • Trim & Final Assembly
  • Disassembly, Restoration and Reassembly of donor car parts
  • Must have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Meet production build schedule deadlines
  • Meet quality standards

Porsche experience and/or German European auto repair experience would be a benefit, but not essential.

Experience in Fabrication or Interior installation would be considered advantageous.

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience assembling/disassembling cars

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of all electronics related components including engine and body systems, air conditioning, lighting, audio etc.
  • Lead electronics department in support of one production vehicle per month initially, including assembly, modification, first start up and engine calibration via motec M600 ECU ensuring all systems are functioning nominally.
  • Modify off the shelf components such as electric air conditioning, power steering and nose lift systems to be reliably integrated into a Gunther Werks restoration.
  • Install and wire auxiliary power distribution block used to provide fused power to all aftermarket electronics components.
  • Modify, install and terminate audio and GPS systems including speakers, microphones and additional HiFi options if selected.
  • Manage electronics projects and developments; work with outside vendors and engineers to lead improvements and further develop products and ideas.
  • Develop additional vehicle options per the special wishes department supporting sourcing and integration into vehicle specification.
  • Work with the production team to develop build specifications and quality standards.
  • Support our Parts department to create and maintain BOMs for all electrical components and cross functionally with engineering, and vendors to ensure all parts are available on time for each commission build.
  • Trouble shoot, diagnose and resolve any electrical issues on our vehicles including after sales.
  • Support the vetting and on-boarding of new team members, vendors and suppliers.
  • Ownership of electronics quality levels for each commission from initial vehicle teardown through delivery.
  • Define and deliver make vs. buy opportunities.
  • Provide departmental performance reports to management including transparency of issues and plan to resolve.
