Remastering
an Icon

Inside every restoration, Gunther Werks creates the perfect balance between the original interior and newly designed luxurious and performance orientated elements.

Embracing the DNA of the original design while respectfully remastering it. Our own carbon fiber bucket seats, floor panels and rear-seat delete are integral to the transformation. Clients control the customization of the interior with bespoke leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber and billet aluminum accents.

These vehicles are truly bespoke with both the silhouette and soul of a classic, that only the fortunate few are destined to own one.

Limited to 75 Examples.

Only 75 discerning individuals will ever own one, as such, your vehicle will be as unique as you are.  Selecting the colour of your bespoke restoration is just the start of the journey. We can make any colour you can imagine or reproduce any colour you desire. From there you select your vehicle’s interior materials, accent colours and finishes, from a vast array of options available. Functional Performance

The new carbon fibre body panels follow our ethos of Functional Performance. Every panel is designed to provide the downforce a car with the performance 750hp endows it with, requires. At the same time the substantial cooling requirements of that exceptional air-cooled engine are also met to maximize engine efficiency. The benefits of making them from carbon fibre result in a saving of over 500 lbs. from the original platform.

The air-cooled cars were known for their front-end lift at high speed, something the race cars dealt with efficiently. The front vented hood, as used on the factory race cars, takes high pressure air from the front bumper, and exits it to the low-pressure zone on the hood. This not only eliminates any lift but creates downforce.

The widened front fenders not only cover the wider front track, but also vent the turbulent air from the front wheel wells. This is channelled to the aero side skirts leading to the Vented rear quarter panels and onto a ram air intake.

The rear fender vents are not merely cosmetic but have a very specific role. The vent is used to feed air via the most direct route to each turbo, thus optimizing throttle response and minimizing turbo charger spool times, all but eliminating any lag.

At high speed, a ram air effect is created to further maximize the efficiency of vents further.

Engine

The engine is always the heart of every Gunther Werks Restoration. The Turbo features a Gunther Werks Specified, Rothsport Racing built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine that revs to 7500rpm. Power is transferred to a 6-speed manual transmission with bespoke ratios to just the rear wheels.

The 4.0L engine uses a race-derived flat fan, which provides more than double the volume of air than the standard vertical fan, but more significantly provides even cooling to all six cylinders.

Inlet temperatures are controlled using twin liquid charge coolers, these being seventeen times more efficient than an air-to-air intercooler. Each of the two charge coolers is fed by its own turbo, which then feeds three individual throttle bodies straight to each cylinder. This maximises throttle response and coupled with the shortest route from the turbo to cylinder, will ensure minimal turbo lag. All of this is controlled by a sophisticated multimap Motec engine management system. Output is 600hp in standard form, but with a press of the steering wheel mounted track mode setting, this increases to a formidable 750hp.
