MotorTrend’s first look casts the GXR-Evo as the 911 GT3 Porsche can’t build — a track-focused remake of the 993 with a 455-hp air-cooled engine and a six-speed manual, revealed for the Monterey Car Week crowd.
Christian Seabaugh details a full carbon body, dive planes, a Le Mans–style vertical stabilizer in place of the rear window, and a 4.0-liter Rothsport-assisted flat-six making 455 hp at 9,000 rpm and 312 lb-ft. Power goes to the rear through a carbon-clutched limited-slip and a rebuilt Getrag, topped with a wooden shift knob.
Gunther Werks claims a curb weight under 2,400 pounds. Chassis upgrades include JRZ three-way remote-reservoir dampers, Brembo Pista race brakes, and magnesium wheels. The cabin is race gear: a single carbon-Kevlar seat, six-point harness, Motec dash with lap timer, eight-point cage, air jacks, and a CAN keypad.
